In 1972 after Sundance ceremony in Crowdog's
Paradise,
the Great Spirit called for the message of traditional people
had to be
spread to the entire world of the Earth, so people in the
Crowdog's
Paradise and many supporters did the Trail of Broken Treaty.
Many Native Americans across the Nation went to Washington, D.C.
during the Presidential Election week to advertise the plight
of indigenous
people and all relations including animals, plants, and all natural
elements.

The representatives of Native Americans were
supposed to meet with then
President Richard Nixon for doing
peaceful negotiation to improve the way of life for Native People,
but that did not happen. Not only that, accommodation of elderies
were so disastrous that
people went to the Bureau of Indian Affair,
which was supposed to help Native Americans,
asking for finding decent accommodation for elderies, children
and women in DC area.
Meantime people started to cook some food and brewed some coffee
to ease some long trip
tiredness in nice spacy lounge of BIA
building.
Then within a sudden moment, the building was surrounded by SWAT
and FBI claiming
Native People to get out of the building, and to disarm their
weapons.
As a matter of fact, Native People did not have
weapons, they just wanted some rest in BIA building.
SWAT started to break into the building. This action of the US
government gave
young Native American warriors' DNA woken up,so young people
started to defend for their families,
and they made the building like
instant fortress.
Negotiation between the US government and Native Americans did
not meet
satisfactory goals for each other; however, all prayer and presence
of elders and
medicinal performance of Leonard Crowdog and his
relations,
both the US government people and Native Americans could avoid
bloody consequence in DC.
In 1973 the living condition of many Indian Reservations
had gotten worse and worse.
The soverighnity of Indian reservations was completely raped
by the flow of what was
going on in the mainsteam of society.
Then again the Great Spirit of the Great Mystery came into a
Native American woman
saying "Let's go to Wounded Knee, and stand up for what
our ancestors prayed for!"
Then it
felt like a moment of thunder bird lightings, Native Americans
liberated Wounded Knee,
and they announced to the whole world
the declaration of independence for Wounded Knee.
The independent
nation Wounded Knee lasted 71 days as Native American Nation
run by
Native Americans who lived as the spirit of ancestoral
way of life of Turtle Island. During those moments,
there were happy moments and sad moments. As Leonard Crowdog
states " the time of Wounded Knee was
the most lively, the most intense,
the most favorite time of
my indian way of
life."

In1978 the trans-continental peace walk "the
Longest Walk" ,which took place
between San Francisco and
DC and New York City , was the vision of Leonard Crowdog and
all his relations brought by the spirit of the Great Mystery.
All four colors people
walked hot and cold days, sunny, rainy, snowy, stormy days. Steps
by steps
walking on the Mother Earth, singing and drumming Native songs
of Turtle Islands,
praying and praying for all relations, past,
present and future, the acts of
those prayer helped the US government to legalized the
permanent
permission right for the Native American Spiritual
Ceremonies
so long as peaceful.
From then on, Native American Cultural Revivals
started to happen to the four directions.
On the Indigenous People Day October 12th 2000,
Chief Leonard Crowdog and his relations visited the White House
for advising what we all people had to do for future generations,
and negotiating the freedom for Leonard Peltier
who was wrongfully incarcerated in the
federal prison in Leavenworth, KS.
